Manchester City look certain to advance from the previous 32 of the Women’s Champions League because they scored five goals in the last 25 minutes to thrash Lugano 7-1 from the leg.
Kaela Dickerman levelled just before half time, although the side was given a 25th-minute lead by georgia Stanway.
The penalty minutes after the restart of aoife Mannion put City in command.
Two Pauline Bremer targets, one from Janine Beckie at the final stages and two from Caroline Weir sealed it.
City must have been out of sight until the Swiss league runners-up of last season equalised.
The post hit from close range and only shot wide after rounding the goalkeeper, while Weir hit a long-range work against the crossbar.
However, a Lugano facet, using a strong American contingent, captured City about the break and they might even have gone ahead when Sofia Pedrazzini’s shot was deflected again after a poor clearance by goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck.
When Mannion wrong-footed goalkeeper Kelsey Dossey with her spot-kick later Lee Geum-min was fouled in the box but City were back facing seconds after the restart.
Bremer’s exquisite lob after Steph Houghton’s 70-yard overhaul ended the match for a competition, before slotting home the fourth, along with Alana O’Neill turned indoors.
The fifth from Weir has been a serene strike after great control 12 metres out, and she hit the post a minute later.
Beckie effort from the edge of the box beat Dossey with five minutes before Scotland global Weir got her second with the last kick of the game in her near post.
The only real downside for City has been a concern over England forward Stanway who limped off having been injured while still scoring the opening goal.
