Virgil van Dijk plays down talk of new Liverpool deal

Virgil van Dijk insists he is“not discussing anything at the minute“ seeing negotiations over a contract extension at Liverpool.
The Reds defender opened up to Sky Sports News reporter Bryan Swanson following Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat away to Napoli.
It turned out to be a start to the defence of the Champions League campaign, particularly with all the Van Dijk permitting Fernando Llorente to sneak a late second goal.
On the back of reports that he’d agreed a bumper deal at Anfield, the 28-year-old, who transferred into Anfield for #75m in January 2018, was asked if he wished to hold discussions to a contract extension.
„There is nothing going on, so that’s it,“ he explained.
Asked again about wanting to hold talks about’any expansion ‚,“ Van Dijk added:“That is not on me! I saw some reports from the media that I was agreeing a new deal and stuff.
„But I’m not even talking anything at the moment. The only thing that I want to do right now is focus on the matches and we’ll see in the long run what may occur.“
Van Dijk was under Jurgen Klopp, playing a leading part at the path of the club last year and their development as the major rivals for Premier League dominance of Manchester City.
By winning their first five Premier League games, liverpool have created a start to their effort, however they face their biggest challenge so much when they visit Stamford Bridge to confront Frank Lampard’s Chelsea on Sunday, live on Sky Sports.
