MATCHES TO MAKE FOLLOWING UFC FIGHT NIGHT 111

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back in Singapore for the second time in promotional background Saturday (June 17, 2017) with UFC Fight Night 111: Holm vs. Correia. It was a fun night of scraps which found half of 12 bouts ending within the space, and with that action today in our rear view, let’s take a look at some possible matchups featuring some of the competitors from the evening…
Bethe Correia vs. Liz Carmouche
Correia endured a third-round knockout against Holly Holm this past weekend and will be seeking to return to the win column her next time out. I believe a matchup that is logical for her next excursion inside the Octagon would be one against fellow former UFC women’s bantamweight title challenger Liz Carmouche. It would be a rare“winner versus failure“ matchup from the division, but it is a pairing I think makes a lot of sense. I believe this potential women’s 135-pound contest would be a good fit for the main card to October’s UFC Fight Night in Brazil.
Colby Covington vs. Rafael dos Anjos
Covington and Dos Anjos were each successful in their own principal card bouts at UFC Fight Night 111, together with Covington carrying a unanimous-decision triumph over Dong Hyun Kim and dos Anjos making a unanimous nod against former Strikeforce welterweight champion Tarec Saffiedine. It was a strong welterweight debut for dos Anjos, also that I believe Covington would be a good opponent for his next outing, as both of them are seeking to break into the Top 15 in 170 pounds. This possible welterweight competition would be a nice fit for the preliminary card to the UFC 215 at Seattle of August.
„Stun Gun“ Dong Hyun Kim vs. Alan Jouban
This potential welterweight showdown has of creating fireworks that are great possibility. It might also turn out to be a lackluster fight if Kim employs a grappling-heavy game plan and finds success with it. I am not sure he will though, as I could see Jouban maintaining the fight standing. Jouban did show improved takedown defense in his final outing against Gunnar Nelson despite losing via second-round guillotine-choke entry after being dropped using a punch to the brow. Kim is coming off a unanimous-decision loss to Covington, and such as Jouban, he’ll be looking to bounce back to the win column his next time out. I think this struggle would be a match for September’s UFC Fight Night in Japan.
