Manchester United’s Paul Pogba replaced by Arsenal’s Matteo Guendouzi in France squad
Paul Pogba was substituted by Matteo Guendouzi from the France squad for their upcoming European Qualifiers.
Manchester United midfielder Pogba has retreated with an arm, together with Arsenal midfielder Guendouzi termed from the France group for the first time.
The Lorient player can make his national team debut at the qualifiers at home against Albania and away in Andorra on September 7 and 10.
Guendouzi, who has played with 52 times because signing last summer, is called up from the U21 side, in which he has made two appearances of Sylvain Ripoll.
Gunners manager Unai Emery was pleased with the man-of-the-match display from the North London derby of Guendouzi on Sunday.
Emery said:“He’s really young but he’s progressing. He gives a lot of control to us and also the mixtures mean he vital in the team. He’s one of the essential players.
„He’s working to get a defensive balance and also working on his own body to get more powerful in the scenarios needed from the Premier League. Now was one measure more but he’s really demanding of himself“
Pogba, who limped off in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Southampton, was ruled out following consultations with France team physician Franck Le Gall and team in Old Trafford.
