The team now will finish the season on the road, starting with back-to-back games with Chicago afterward Minnesota (Monday/Tuesday).
Expect the Jets to split the goaltending duties in both of these matches, as Connor Hellebuyck will play in one match, and the question is, who’ll play with the other? Laurent Brossoit was battling an accident as of late, so it could also be Eric Comrie (Manitoba Moose) to draw on the mission.
Naturally, Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien returned into the line-up after missing 19 games with a lower-body injury. He was minus-1 with three hits in 24:24. Byfuglien has missed a total of 40 games this year. The Jets are optimistic this is going to be the conclusion of a bad luck season for the big defenceman.
Chicago Blackhawks
Though the Blackhawks aren’t mathematically eliminated from the post season, they are on their last measures. The group enters this game with the Jets coming off a critical 3-2 overtime loss to the Kings. They are 5-3-2 in their past 10 games, but are 2-4 in their last six.
Though goal scoring has not been a problem for the Hawks this year, averaging 3.24 matches per game (ranked eighth in the league), it has been of late. In their past eight games, they have scored only 16 goals.
Team goals against continues to be a problem in Chicago, and probably the number one reason this group will not be led to the post season. Currently its ranked 30th in the league, averaging 3.56 goals against per game. They’re also ranked 30th in all shots permitted, averaging nearly 35 shots against per game.
