Gary Kirsten to meet Ashley Giles over England head coach role
Gary Kirsten will hold discussions on England head coachs vacant job, Sky Sports News understands.
Kirsten is the top candidate to replace Trevor Bayliss, who stepped down after the Ashes series against Australia.
Sky Sports News knows the interview process is continuing and Giles is also meeting with other hopefuls.
The 51-year-old has past experience of worldwide training, having appreciated in his profession.
Giles has stated his preference as head coach, together with Chris Silverwood – the present fast bowling coach – regarded yet another front-runner due to his previous encounter at Essex.
Surreys Alec Stewart has been linked with the role, as has Ireland coach Graham Ford and Englands batting trainer Graham Thorpe.
Giles will hope to create a new head coach in time for Englands tour of New Zealand, that starts with a T20 international in Christchurch.
