Eddie Jones says Scotland cannot blame Typhoon Hagibis for potential Rugby World Cup exit
Eddie Jones has little empathy with Scotland when they are knocked out of their World Cup by Super Typhoon Hagibis.
The Scots will lose out on the quarter-finals if their game against hosts Japan on Sunday is cancelled due to the cyclone.
Englands conflict with France and New Zealands game against Italy have already been called away and sympathy has been restricted by Jones for the men of Gregor Townsend, given that teams knew the potential to intervene.
England secured qualification with a game to spare and Jones said:We have been talking about it all of the time, regarding the possibility that this was going to happen.
It is typhoon season. You know whats going to take place. It is typhoon season here and youve got to be ready for it.
We had an idea it might occur and thus you have to collect points in your matches to place yourself in the right place in case that happened.
We only knew that there was the chance of a match such as this during the tournament so we just wanted to place ourselves in the very best place we could.
This is supposed to be quite a big typhoon, so I dont see any other alternative that the organisers had. Thats why were not worried at all about the comings and goings of this, we think that its the ideal decision.
New Zealand head coach Steve Hansen has echoed Jones view.
We must back World Rugbys decision and when other teams miss out, its unfortunate, its going be disappointing, Hansen explained.
If you wish to be really callous, then it is about ensuring you win the games on the way through because everyone knew that this might be a possibility.
