Eddie Jones says Scotland cannot blame Typhoon Hagibis for potential Rugby World Cup exit
When theyre knocked from the World Cup by Super Typhoon Hagibis eddie Jones has empathy with Scotland.
The Scots will miss out on the quarter-finals if their game against hosts Japan on Sunday is cancelled as a result of the cyclone that is coming.
The game against Italy of New Zealand and also englands battle with France have been called away and sympathy has been limited by Jones for the guys of Gregor Townsend, given that all teams knew that the potential to intervene.
England secured excellence with a match to spare and Jones stated:We have been discussing it all the time, regarding the possibility that this was going to occur.
It is typhoon season. You understand whats going to happen. Its typhoon period here and you have got to be ready for it.
We had an idea it could happen and thus you have to accumulate points on your games to place yourself in the perfect position if happened.
We just knew there was the possibility of a match similar to this throughout the tournament so we only wanted to place ourselves in the very best place we can.
This is supposed to be quite a big typhoon, so I really dont see any other alternative the organisers had. Thats why were not concerned at all about the comings and goings of this, we think its the ideal choice.
New Zealand head coach Steve Hansen has echoed Jones view.
We have to back World Rugbys conclusion and when other teams overlook, it is unfortunate, its going be unsatisfactory, Hansen said.
If you would like to be really ruthless, then it is about ensuring you win the games on the way through since everybody knew that this could be a possibility.
